jD Shapiro joins Justin to talk about his experience as a young script writer in Hollywood, how he landed in the office of Mel Brooks to pitch his Robin Hood: Men In Tights script and how Battlefield Earth turned out to be the Worst Film Ever Made.  Hear behind the scenes stories of jD's career so far, what he's up to now in Spain and his animal activism.  

jD Shapiro currently has a hit stage play, “Yo solo quiero irme a Francia,” touring throughout Spain. He co-wrote it with Elisabeth Larena, and it stars one of Spain’s most beloved and acclaimed actresses, María Galiana.

He is also the Head Writer of the action-comedy film “Tras los pasos de la Rubia Platino,” starring Eduardo Castejón, which premieres in Madrid on July 21. This Fall he’s expected to begin a stand-up comedy tour with comedian Mark Riccadonna.

jD is a Paid Regular at The Comedy Store and was Stan Lee’s creative partner for nearly 15 years. Among his many film credits, he wrote, directed, and co-starred in the HBO Comedy Festival Best Film, “We Married Margo,” and wrote “Robin Hood: Men in Tights,” directed by Mel Brooks.

But jD is most proud that his name appears in the writing credits of the worst movie ever made… “Battlefield Earth.”

Mike Harrison joins Justin to talk about how he came to be an artist and what snapshot moment sparked that passion.  Mike is known around the Myrtle Beach area as a wonderful artist and you can find his artwork in many places - specifically at Lakewood Camping Resort in Myrtle Beach.

Philip Chidel joins Justin to talk about his filmmaking journey that ultimately landed him a job as a film teacher at the Marin School for the Arts in Novato, California.  Philip speaks about having Kane Parsons, of Backrooms fame, in his classroom and the lead up to the world famous Backrooms short film that led to this years worldwide number one feature film.

What got Philip interested in the film industry that got him into teaching that got him in the classroom with Kane Parsons?

Justin has found his way out of the Backrooms where he apparently has been trapped since July 2021.  He's out and he's back!

Justin is joined by his brother, Ryan, where they take a look at the new Backrooms movie from the viewpoint of men in their thirties and the impact the film made on them within a week of release.  You'll hear Justin and Ryan talk about how they stumbled upon the Backrooms, Justin's fascination with the lore and marvel at how a young director can capture the feeling of the '90s.

May the Fourth Be With You...and the spam callers that call while recording an episode.

Can you believe it's already May?!  It is special that we get to release an episode on the 4th of May and spread the cheer of the Force to all the world.  Or at least to the folks listening.

We went to Walt Disney World!  Just don't tell Dollywood.

Justin took his iPhone with him to Walt Disney World (it's a new thing to do) and recorded some moments with his son and two nieces.  You'll hear thoughts of a three-year-old's first time on an airplane, reactions after Rise of the Resistance, sounds of Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway and more.
